Emerald is the birthstone for May. A beautiful green colour, it also has well known relatives including Aquamarine. Emerald is rarely flawless, and often has inclusions which makes the gem so recognisable. A flawless Emerald therefore is a valuable gem indeed. Often found in historical jewellery, they were also prized long ago by the Egyptians in the reign of Cleopatra.

Flora Day

The internationally famous Flora Dance held each year in Helston is on this Tuesday the 8th of May. Thousands of people enter the town to enjoy the carnival experience, and watch people dancing up through the street during the day. A spring festival said to pre-date Christianity, the town is decorated with flowers, gorse & laurel leaves. For more on this wonderful occasion visit:

Cornish hip flask

Trevithick Day on Saturday April 28th is the annual celebration of the life of Richard Trevithick, a Cornishman who is famed for inventing the steam carriage in 1802. Click on the image of the Cornish flag hip flask, on sale in Camborne on the day.

We have a number of Cornish themed gift ideas, including Cornish tin and bronze jewellery plus many pieces with a Celtic design, Cornwall tankards in glass and pewter and hip flasks. We will be open on the day between 8am and 4pm. We can also engrave and gift wrap items too. Have a great day!
